Spring 2018
Circle K ASPCA Toy Making I attended a Circle K event where we made cat toys to donate to the local ASPCA shelter. Fall 2017 IABC: Headshot Fundraiser International Association of Business Communicators held a headshot fundraiser for their trip to Pittsburgh. I volunteered for two afternoons as the photographer for this event. TEDX Headshots TEDX is coming to campus December 2017! I took the presenters headshots for the programs. Spring 2017 Project Sunshine: Sunnygrams My friend, Katie, and I went to a Project Sunshine event to create cards for children in hospitals! Sunnygrams are meant to bring a smile to a sick child's face! IABC: Resume Ready As the president of IABC, I hosted an event for students and community members to perfect their resumes. We targeted adults in Ithaca looking to rejoin the workforce after raising children. In the end, we wished that we had a better turnout, but I am really happy that everything on our end, such as the presentations, the marketing, etc., went very smoothly. Fall 2016 Toy Making for Guiding Eyes Dogs On Tuesday, November 8, 2016, I joined Guiding Eyes for the Blind for their annual toy-making event. In this, I cut fabric and tied it into unique shapes and figures to create toys for the hard working pups. Spring 2016 Sandwich Making with Circle K On February 16, 2016, I worked with a team of three other students to make sandwiches for the Ithaca Rescue Mission. All of our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were bagged for the homeless or for the hungry. Fall 2015 Designing Dog Bandanas On Monday, September 28th, I made and decorated bandannas for dogs in shelters. I am so glad that I was able to do something to benefit the animals in our community. I always feel so badly for shelter dogs because they didn't choose to live like that, but they have to. By making bandannas, I hope to improve the dog's morale because shelter life can not be a good like. Lucky, the ASPCA reached out to Ithaca College students asking for us to make bandannas for dogs who were to be adopted. In the time I was there, I made three bandannas that three lucky dogs will get to wear when families come looking to adopt. Hopefully my bandannas will stand out and draw people to the dogs and motivate them to take a puppy in need home! Creating Decorations for Elderly Homes On Monday, October 12th, I created decorations for a nursing home downtown so that they could properly celebrate and decorate for fall. It was so much fun making these rings for the elderly because they will appreciate them so much! Grandparent aged people are always so excited to get crafts made by kids, and these were really fun to make. I hope they like mine! Making Halloween Cards for Elementary Students This week in IC Art for Service, members created halloween cards for students in the Ithaca Elementary schools. We made them and left room for kids to write their messages to family and friends. I really enjoyed this project because we were helping children make others happy, thus starting a chain reaction of happiness. The local children look up to us and it probably made their day when they got cards that we made for them, and were even more thrilled to add to them for others. |
